The upcoming Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy-directed Star Wars movie, focused around Daisy Ridley’s Rey Skywalker, will not be subtitled with the “Episode X” designation, The Streamr has confirmed. After rumors circulated online that the movie would be titled “Star Wars – Episode X: A New Beginning”, we reached out to Lucasfilm who said that the information was untrue and provided the actual working title: “New Jedi Order”, as announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023.
We also clarified whether the film would indeed carry an ‘Episode [ROMAN]’ designation as an indication that it would be a continuation of “The Skywalker Saga” (Episodes I – IX of the Star Wars franchise), and were told in no uncertain terms that it would not.
New Jedi Order (w/t) is set to release in 2026. Production is set to begin this year in London. Disney currently has two Star Wars movies scheduled for 2026: The Mandalorian & Grogu, which begins production in California in June, and (presumably) this movie.
The film will be directed by Ms Marvel director, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. It is produced by Lucasfilm and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The only confirmed cast member is Daisy Ridley.
